The Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal is seeking applications from suitable persons for appointment as the Deputy Chairperson (Determinations).

Job description:

Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal
Deputy Chairperson (Determinations)

Sydney CBD.  Full time.  Total remuneration package valued up to $261.267 including salary ($238,278).

The Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (CTTT) is a specialised dispute resolution forum for consumer, trader and tenancy disputes in NSW.  The Tribunal deals with disputes in relation to residential tenancies, consumer claims, home building, motor vehicles, residential parks, retirement villages and strata and community schemes.

The Deputy Chairperson (Determinations) must possess strong leadership capabilities and provide direction to the Members of the Tribunal to ensure that consistent procedures and practices are adopted and that the Chairperson's Directions are complied with.  The Deputy Chairperson (Determinations) must be able to hear the most legally and factually complex cases and those which cover the most contentious government and industry policy issues.  High level communication and interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to develop training and professional development programs.  Ability to develop and implement case management strategies is essential.  This position also assists the Chairperson to manage the performance of Members.  The Deputy Chairperson (Determinations) must be an Australian lawyer.  Alternative dispute resolution skills are essential.
