The Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (CTTT) is seeking applications from persons suitable for appointment as a full-time Senior Member of the Tribunal. The position is based in Sydney but travel around NSW is required. Senior Members are statutory office holders and are appointed by the Governor for up to five years. The CTTT is a specialised dispute resolution forum for consumer, trader and tenancy disputes in NSW.
Senior Members hear the more legally complex and lengthy matters coming before the CTTT as well as cases which are of a high monetary value, have a high degree of public importance and/or raise significant issues. Senior Members also provide guidance, mentoring and leadership to other Members and deliver professional development activities in the jurisdictions of the Tribunal.
To be considered for appointment you will need to have an ability to conduct complex and lengthy proceedings. Legal qualifications are highly desirable and you will have a thorough understanding of the principles of procedural fairness. You will also have recognised ability or experience in alternative dispute resolution. You must be able to quickly deliver lawful decisions and reasons across a wide jurisdiction within a high volume list driven environment. Experience in mentoring or in assisting in professional development of colleagues would be an advantage. Ability to use a range of information technology would also be an advantage.
Total remuneration package is valued up to $208,346 p.a. including salary ($188,805).
