Western Sydney residents affected by storm damage
Announcement
On Tuesday, 12 February 2008, the CTTT participated in an information forum run by Legal Aid for the residents of Western Sydney affected by the recent hailstorms.
The CTTT's Penrith Deputy Registrar, Suzanne Gainsford-Holland, spoke with local residents about the role of the CTTT and how it can provide a quick and low-cost dispute resolution service for tenants, landlords, traders and consumers affected by storm damage.
Examples of storm damage to residential premises include:
-
severe water damage or penetration
-
electricial damage
-
water-logged ceilings which are physically collapsing or sagging.
Urgent hearings
If you need to lodge an application to the CTTT relating to storm damage, you can request an urgent hearing.

-
Clearly state you are requesting an urgent hearing and include your reasons. For example "I need an urgent hearing because our landlord is refusing to repair the hailstorm damage to our rental premises"
-
Provide evidence of the storm damage, such as a photograph.
