CTTT jurisdictional limit increase in the General and Motor Vehicles divisions

The Consumer Claims Regulation 2007, commencing 1 September 2007, increases the limit on the CTTT's jurisdiction to make orders in respect of claims under the Consumer Claims Act 1998 from $25,000 to $30,000.
The new regulations will affect CTTT applications lodged on or after 1 September 2007 in the GeneralĀ and Motor Vehicles divisions.
The regulations replace the Consumer Claims Regulation 1999 with the following amendments:

Increased limit of the CTTT's jurisdiction to make orders in respect of claims under the Consumer Claims Act 1998 to $30,000.

Applications are to be made in accordance with the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal Act 2001.

Clause 7 of the 1999 Regulation which prescribes particulars relating to any list of unsatisfactory suppliers established under section 16 of the Consumer Claims Act 1998 has been removed.

Clause 8 of the 1999 Regulation relating to disputes concerning commissions charged by licensed preperty agents has been removed and replaced by clause 1(b) of Schedule 1 of the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal Act 2001.
