Solar hot water companies in liquidation

Solar & Bamboo Direct Coffs Harbour Pty Ltd
Solar & Bamboo Direct Tamworth Pty Ltd
Solar Installations (NSW) Pty Ltd

Liquidator appointed

On 23 December 2011, Fair Trading became aware that Solar & Bamboo Direct Coffs Harbour Pty Ltd, Solar & Bamboo Direct Tamworth Pty Ltd and Solar Installations (NSW) Pty Ltd have been placed into liquidation and have ceased trading.

The Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (CTTT) has a small number of current matters that involve companies in the Solar & Bamboo group.  All current matters that are before the CTTT may only proceed with the leave of the Supreme Court of NSW, and are subject to such conditions as that Court may impose.

Parties affected may wish to seek independent legal advice.  The 'Getting help' fact sheet (PDF size: 353kb) lists various services in NSW that can assist with answers to legal questions.

Your questions answered

What will happen with my CTTT application against the Solar & Bamboo group?
Consumers who have already lodged applications with the CTTT have been sent a letter by the Registry informing them of the current situation.  Provisions in the Corporations Act 2001 (sections 471B, 500 or 440D) mean these applications may not only proceed with the leave of the Supreme Court of NSW, and subject to such conditions as that Court may impose.

I have not lodged a CTTT application, but am thinking about it - what can I do?
Before lodging an application with the CTTT against the Solar and Bamboo group, you should seek advice from NSW Fair Trading or independent legal advice about what course of action is appropriate in your circumstances.
